Hi Jerry,

At the moment, the 6500 & 7600 are pretty much the same box, just different
labels. Cisco got repeated feedback from customers stating they needed a
router in their core, for example, and did not want to use a 6500 switch.
So Cisco took the 6500, relabeled it with 7600, called it a router and it
gives some customers the warm and fuzzies to know they were using a router.
However, although the two platforms are identical at present, Cisco has
stated that they intend to diversify the two platforms in the future,
keeping the 6500 as the leading high performance data center layer 3 switch,
and using the 7600 as a high end core router (possibly replacing the 7500's)
with switching capabilities.

HTH,
Christian

As i know that the 45xx and 65xx is catalyst,

However, does anyone know the main differenet on these equipment?
i have been asked as before "why use 65xx for core not 76xx?"
