But doesn't that translate into bad for the user? See, you just have the
programmer's perspective. IMHO, they're job is to make OUR lives easier,
not vice-versa! (And, as if IOS isn't big enough anyway.... Or, if it was
properly designed to begin with, they'd like to a module already programmed
in (like for IPv4, etc) that works)

It's not bad programming. It's just "efficient" programming.
If they let you enter all of those different options it would take more
lines of code in the IOS and more processing power to find the matching
interface ;-)
