        The layer 2 network design will also determine whether the
maxage timer plays a role or not. If there is a local link failure and
a local blocking port starts to go through the forwarding delay maxage
does not come into play. If the failure is indirect but backbonefast is
enabled maxage also does not come into play. Also considering there are
only two switches in the lab any failure of an ethernet link will always
be directly connected to the switches.
