hello

I am very new to CAT65ks...so any help would be really nice

CCO states:

"Integrated routing and bridging (IRB) and concurrent routing and bridging
(CRB) have deliberately been disabled on the Catalyst 6500 series switches.
Layer 2 VLANs and VLAN interfaces should be used for normal bridging and
interVLAN routing. Bridge groups are supported only to bridge nonrouted
protocols. (CSCdz21959)"

1) anyone know the reason for this? ( I check the above mentioned code in
the Bug Toolkit...it did'nt mention any details)

2) Lets say we have the following scenario:

LAN ------------ [ CAT 6K with SUP 720 ] E1 ------------ WAN

is there any solution to have same subnets on both sides of the above? (i.e.
bridging)?
is there any way to run IRB or any other thing for the above scenario?

What exactly are Bridge/Groups (Fall-back bridging) or Transparent Bridging,
can any of these help here??

3) we've been told that MPLS is not supported on E1 interfaces on the CAT6K
(only atm,fr).....EoMPLS is not an option either since that requires
SUP-7203bxl and we dont have that, any other solution for running MPLS on an
E1 interface??

d) any good resource to study the different bridging types..fallback,
transparent etc..?

Thanks
