hi ,
In class based traffic shaping when we shape at the peak rate using the
shape peak command , there is differing Target Rate and Average Rate in the
policy-map output.
I would like to know the know the significance of the differing Target Rate
and Average Rate values. As i understand the shape peak command enables
transmission up to the maximum rate each Tc interval , which would be the
Target rate but then what about Average Rate?.
The other problem is when we apply class based adaptive shaping to a
frame-relay interface shouldn't the policy-map output show adaptive shaping
active?.
The following is the partial configuration .
interface Serial0/0
encapsulation frame-relay
service-policy output SHAPE
policy-map SHAPE
 class class-default
  shape peak 1024000 32768 16384
  shape adaptive 384000
!
The following is the policy-map output
Class-map: class-default (match-any)
      514 packets, 63610 bytes
5 minute offered rate 0 bps, drop rate 0 bps
      Match: any
