First of all I have to admit that LAB 14 made me pull my hair ,
TASK 5.5
* Advertise VLAN 4 and 5 into BGP
* Traffic from AS 54 destined to these prefixes should come in the FR link between R6 and BB1
*Traffic for these prefixes should only come in from BB3 if the link between R6 and BB1 is down.
in the beginning, I decided not to look into the solution and I configured the task via sending MED of 100 to BB3 for those two prefixes from R1,R3 and R6, also I sent Med of 50 of these prefixes toward BB1 from R6 only.
when I looked into the solution I found Brian did it via prepending AS into the path, fine, for me It is fair because either prepending AS or setting MED can do the job.
but I became very sad when I saw the configuration of R5 because I could not figure out what Brians mean to say , why are they aggregating the subnet 167.1.0.0 ? and what is the secret behind the set ip next-hop 167.1.135.5 which is a local hop address !
HELPPPPP
