Hi Bajo,
Really thanks, I tried this command on R4 (LAB 13) , R4
(204.12.1.4)-----(204.12.1.254) BB3
I changed the IP address of R4 with different subnet (155.1.1.4) then I start
getting the following message :
*Mar 1 01:12:57.499: RIP: ignored v2 update from bad source 204.12.1.254 on
Ethernet0
which means that RIP ignored the updates from BB3 because the source IP
address is not on the same subnet of the receiving interface. and ofcourse
there was nothing in the routing table.
now I issue the command "no validate-update-source" and immidately the
network-update succeed in installing all the rip routes from BB3 :
Rack1R4#show ip route rip
31.0.0.0/16 is subnetted, 4 subnets
R 31.3.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13
R 31.2.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13
R 31.1.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13
R 31.0.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13
30.0.0.0/16 is subnetted, 4 subnets
R 30.2.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13
R 30.3.0.0 [120/1] via 204.12.1.254, 00:00:13

Hi Ismail,
And if you want to lab this: "Create a Frame Relay link between two routers
and assign each side two different subnet address (Say R1 150.1.1.1/24 and R2
150.1.2.2/24 <http://150.1.2.2/24> ) and see if you can get RIP going between
them."

"The software ensures that the source IP address of incoming routing updates
is on the same IP network as one of the addresses defined for the receiving
interface."
From the command lookup / DOC CD. This is on by default. I could see you
"disabling" this with the NO command, but the behavior / command is on by
default.
