Hi Guys,
I've got a question regarding the named-community handling in route-map's on
IOS. (NON ext-communities !)
At this moment, to my knowledge, the status is that:
- One can match on 1 or more named communities in a route-map with 'match
community COMM1 [ COMM2 COMM3 ...]'
- One can match on a combination of named community-lists as well as
numbered ones, the numbered will be displayed first always then 'match
community 10 COMM1 [COMM2 ...]'
- One can delete communities with a SINGLE named community only in a
route-map with 'set comm-list COMM1 delete'
IMPORTANT: If used in conjunction with a second 'set', really setting and
not deleting anyting (possible then according to documentation) the 'delete'
operation would be executed before the 'set' operation.
- One CANNOT set communities based upon one or more named communities.
That's still manually done with the full entries ONLY :(
E.g. 'set community 10:123 10:456 10:789'... (when using ip bgp-community
new-format it's best ;) )
Also I found when browsing the Univercd and Cisco-site that Cisco seemed to
have been stuck a bit in their development on the 'traditional' numbered and
named community-lists, but seems to have been developing a bit on
ext-community lists, where a sort of line-numbering like with ACL's is done
and so... And maybe I misinterpreted, but saw some samples that for a change
did NOT use the 'traditional' sample with a route-target identified in it
(by using the 'rt' statement) but just used the community itself...
Ehrm, maybe I'm misinterpreting things, but can it be that in the future
they may want to use the 'set extcommunity' for all ?
And does anyone happen to know if in later releases a better support is
present for named communities, especially for the 'set', supporting
preferrably more than 1 named community ?????
In case you'd have seen this feature already in releases, could you please
state which version ?
TIA!
Rene.
