RE: Running multicast over GRE tunnel with OSPF virtual link

You should try configuring multicast using IP unnumbered and then with
an IP address assigned. This will quickly answer your own question and
you can post your results here.

If a lab needs an OSPF virtual-link and then later on a GRE tunnel is
needed to meet the requirements of a multicast task I wouldn't remove
the virtual link and run OSPF inside of the tunnel unless the lab
somehow implied that OSPF should be run through the tunnel and not over
a virtual-link.

Subject: Running multicast over GRE tunnel with OSPF virtual link

Chaps,

If you are running multicast sparse mode via a GRE tunnel do you need to
give the tunnel an IP address or can you use unnumbered?

Also if you had an OSPF virtual link setup between the same routers then
I take it it would be best to break the virtual link and put OSPF over
the GRE too?

Cheers.
