Sorry, I beg to differ on this. Wrong direction.

The denominator specifically related to the max threshold. In your command
line what you are saying is that I want to start discarding at the minimum
threshold. By the time the maximum threshold is reached you should be
throwing away one of every 'x' packets. (the denominator) and the router
calculates a linear rise magically. (In other words, we mere mortals don't
have to calculate the rise)

" The mark probability denominator is the fraction of packets dropped when
the average queue depth is at the maximum threshold. For example, if the
denominator is 512, one out of every 512 packets is dropped when the average
queue is at the MAXIMUM threshold."

Hi Eldho,

There is a relation between minimum threshold and mark probability
denominator. The 'mark probability denominator' is the denominator for the
number of packets can be dropped when the average queue depth is at the
'minimum threshold'. For example, if the denominator is 512, 1 out of every
512 packets will be dropped when the average queue is at the 'minimum
threshold'.

I don't think there is any relation between 'max threshold' and 'mark
probability denominator'.

Cheers

Sreeni.
