Hi,
1. If you are asked to enable version 2 (RIP) on the router I think
Router rip
version 2
no auto
Should be enough , with this config, the router will send updates via RIPv2
but receive both v1 & v2 updates on the interfaces included in RIP process
by the network command.
2. Now IF, the requirement is to run ONLY ver2, I would go ahead and do ip
rip send and ip rip receive version 2 commands under the interfaces included
in RIP via the network command and passive those interfaces for which I m
not running RIP with the remote peer.
3. Again IF the requirement is to run RIP version 2 with a particular peer
ONLY, so I would have to make sure that I dont advertise any routes to any
other routers, in this case after passive, I would further do a
distribute-list and make sure I am not advertising any routes to any router
other than the one I am asked to peer with..
So, it all boils down to some big IF & ONLY & ALWAYS or NEVER I think....
Any thoughts or corrections .. Pls let me know
Thanks
Shanky
