Thanks for your response. What I understand is both will be correct for lab
exam unless question specifies don't use version 2 command under rip process
Right?

I am trying to understand why I lost points in exam and I don't have gaps in
my knowledge

By default RIP receives version 1 & version 2 but sends only version 1. You
can change this default behaviour by enabling version 2.

Now you are telling the router to receive version 2 & send version 2. The
interface commands are used to alter these behaviours.

You can see that you have some kind of over configuration on the second
option. Enabling version 2 under the router configuration mode is enough to
make the router to send & receive version 2.

Though the confguration in option 1 is good, and will meet the requirement
of enabling RIP, but keep your mind open as there are other RIP Tasks where
the solutions you have given might be the wrong ones.

You might have read it before, but take some time and refresh your mind on
RIP, the DocCD is a good place to go:
