Brian,
This will really depend on one's environment, in a production network where
there are no limitations/restrictions, static routing is the easier way out.
However, using static routes except where specified is not an option in the
CCIE lab. Policy routing is one of the koolest ways to make things work
without violating the rule prohibiting the use of static routes.
It appears that Kay is looking to deploy this in a production/development
environment, so the easier approach is more desirable for him. But for the
rest of us studying for one CCIE certification or another, we might need the
services of policy based routing to achieve the same level of results.
