OSPF AS process ID

Hi,

I read in couple of article, the OSPF process ID on two or more connected
router not necessary to be the same.

e.g one router is running ospf process id 1 and other 100 ??

router ospf 1
network 0.0.0.0

and

router ospf 100
network 0.0.0.0

With RIP and eigrp/igrp the process ID must be the same.
