It appears that a few of the examples in that chapter have some
"issues".

Hi Josh,

On your recommendation, I added the Cisco Press Optimal Routing book to
my Safari bookshelf. I have a question however:

Figure 2-23 shows mutual redistribution at two points between OSPF and
EIGRP.
Below that figure the authors walk through a numbered sequence of route
advertisements that they say results in a permanent routing loop. I am
afraid I do not see this loop!

Their Step 5 says that "Router E redistributes this route into OSPF with
a cost of 5" but router E is not connected to the OSPF domain. Where
exactly is this loop? Is this a mistake, or am I missing something?

If they mean Router D in Step 5 instead of Router E, then I would have
to ask, isn't the 10.1.1.0/24 network an OSPF route on router D, given
the 170 AD for EIGRP externals? I do not think we need to worry about
feedback into the OSPF domain in the scenario they describe. Would
appreciate any thoughts here.

I know ALL books have errata, and I am sure this book has lots of good
stuff in it.

Thanks!

there's a cisco press book "optimal routing" which
has a very good redistribution chapter that explains
the in's and out's fairly well.
