monitor session

Hi,

I am trying to capture packets on a trunk link of Cat3750 with the
configuration below.

monitor session 1 source interface gigabitethernet 1/0/8
monitor session 1 destination interface gigabitethernet 1/0/2
(gig1/0/2 is directly connected to my laptop)

As soon as I specify the gig1/0/2 as the source port, the port goes down,
When I remove the monitor session statemnent, it comes back again.

I have no idea why this is happening. Is there any interface-level config
required for the source port to be configured as monitor source?

Could anyone please shed some light?
