bgp path and ospf typ 1 paths

Hello:
i was working a nice routing loop problem last night that was caused by
mutual redistribution between EIGRP and OSPF. I prevented the routing
loop by redistributing using metric type 1 on one of the routers.

BGP Section:
BGP required some path selection requirement. However, when i issued sho
ip bgp, I was getting two different next hops to the saame address. the
bgp table looked something like this.* 192.168.12.0/24
172.17.65.1 0 100 0 ?
*> 172.17.65.1 0 200 0 ?
The one of the next hop addresses should have been 172.16.65.2 After a
couple of minutes of thinking i decidd it was the type-1 metric i was
using because both BGP next hop addresses were to that device.

Does anybody know why EBGP BGP favors the OSPF next hop so resolutly?
