Lab1 V1 Task 5.24-5.27 Breakdown

When redistributing into OSPF, all routes are assigned a default metric of 20. However, RIP and EIGRP do not have default routing metrics for redistribution. Therefore, a metric value must be manually specified. Note that this metric value is arbitrary, and does not reflect any discernible value.

Cisco curriculum CCNP1 V3.1 8.3.7
In the second example, all EIGRP redistribute commands will use the default metric, 10000 100 255 1 1500. Meanwhile, all RIP redistribute commands will use a default metric of two (2).

My understanding to the word (term) default, I do not need to enter a value manually, and since we should manually configure the redistribution metrics for RIP and EIGRP, how does the curriculum dictate that : redistribute commands will use the default metric ??
