I think I would question the fact that they have 8MB flash. I don't believe
there are different flash options for these switches (I could be wrong but
don't think so) so they should all have the same. Do you have any way to
verify that number?
According to this link:
cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_data_sheet09186
a00800913d0.html
Down in the "Product Specifications" they come with 64/16, which is what all
of mine have as well. I don't remember ever having an option on this and
I'm pretty certain they are not upgradable like most/all Cisco access
switches.

Subject: C3550 Flash
Hi
Just a short question which might be easy to answer. I am thinking of buying
3550 with 64mb ram 8mb flash - 12.2 states min flash 16mb but the image size
is around 6.7mb. Does anyone know if the 3550 will complain if I put this
on. I know other stuff is stored on the flash but I don't expect the
vlan.dat/config etc... To be all that big while just using the switch for
CCIE prep. I do not have a 3550 to try it on and would rather not buy one
that does not work to the specification of the real thing.
Thanks
Paul
