Sami,

There is no one solution that will fit all cases. In the real world, most
times all we care is for the stuff to work and yes, the configurations you
provided below and the ones you provided a couple of days ago on the same
subject will work in the real world.

But, remember that the CCIE lab, is a different ball game. Just because
solution works will not earn you points. The solution must work within the
defind criteria and restrictions for you to get points.

The Voice VLAN section of the DocCD is very small, but should be able to
help you alot: Check out the url at:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12225see/scg/swvoip.htm

That, said:

If I am asked to guess a likely question that will result in the solution
you presented below, it will run like this...

"Configure port fa0/7, so that all data traffics are in VLAN 7 and all voice
traffics are in VLAN 10, make sure that the IP Phone overrides the data
traffic with a COS of 1."

But, you will agree with me that, there are many other ways to configure a
voice network, that the proctors will be interested in testing in the lab.

So, there are other variates that will determine if a solution is correct or
not, eg what if there is liner like:

*Configure port fa0/7 for voice, but do not use 802.1q tagging.
*Configure port fa0/7 for voice with dot1p priority tagging.
*Configure port fa0/7 for voice, but allow the ip phone phone to trust the
incoming data from the PC attached to the phone.
*Configure port fa0/7 for voice, but override all voice traffics with a COS
of 4.
*etc

These are just a few, but there are tons of other configuration scenarios
that might be thrown at one in the lab, not because they are best practice
(well, we all know that the CCIE lab, is not a best practice lab), to know
if you understand the technology and concepts.

Your problem might be that, when you open those CCO doc, you referred to in
your post; it is likely that you went straight to the configuration/example
section to see the configurations in each section, without reading the
various tasks/objectives set forth prior to the configurations. If you read
the objectives, behind each of the configurations that you say are confusing
you, you might discover some differences that led them to arrive at
different solutions.
