Kool, I will always remember that; but on a serious note, with the IOSes
been used in the CCIE (R&S) lab today, 'ip cef' is enabled by default, so it
is not really necessary to enable it, but it will be good to confirm it one
your pod to make sure that it is actually there.
Look at how things have changed! In your days one could fail for just not
enabling, 'ip cef' but in today's CCIE, that will not necessary earn one a
failure:-different beast & challenge for different time, season and age.

Yes, I normally do that too in my home lab. It does not hurt to turn it
ON on all routers. The purpose of my email is actually to address the
relationship between CEF and CAR.

I did'nt check DocCD before answering, so my memory failed me :)
Anyway, I still think that turning CEF on every router is not that bad
idea. As I remember from my lab it has been turned on, when I verified
my "show adjacencies"
