Pierre,

I used multi-VRF lite with 2x3550 12.2(25)SED IP SERVICES
to simulate backbone BGP & RIP with no problems :) The only
drawback is that EIGRP is not actually working per-VRF, as
it has been claimed by cisco :(

And of course, no IPv6 is available at 3550. At the same time, I used
one of my production routers to simulate backbone isolated in
single VRF too :)

So I think that using Multi-VRF-like features could really help. And you
dont actually need MPLS here, as it has been noted :)
