I am probably not the best qualified person to address the Netflow,
since I just started looking over this to (when I also came across the
IP Traffic-export feature). However, I did a some looking around and it
appears that this integrates with other applications that perform the
accounting/billing features. According to one white paper out
there...."NetFlow technology efficiently provides the metering base for
a key set of applications including accounting/billing, network
planning, network monitoring and outbound marketing, etc....." Also, it
is appears that the later versions of IOS include support for some of
the lower-end routers now. There are a couple of good white papers on
Netflow you may want to check out....

Hi Schulz,
How does Netflow do the Accounting and Billing ? Does it required an
external application (radius server or ?). What would be an architecture
if we are using the billing and accounting based on netflow ?

Netflow is a higher end service that is in the IOS, but supported on the
higher-end routers (7xxx). Also, even though it is the IOS, (the
documentation states, that you need a separate license (so I am sure
this wouldn't be covered in the lab). It does a lot more than the IP
traffic-export options, which is supported on the IOS (out of the box).
The Netflow includes not only the Network application and user
monitoring, but also Denial of Service and Security Analysis, Accounting
and Billing, Traffic Engineering and NetFlow Data Storage and Data
Mining.

Subject: Netflow and IP Traffic Export
Hi Forum, I have been looking up some of the newer 12.3T features and
came across Netflow Input Filters and also IP Traffic Export. They
both seem to allow data to be gathered on a particular port and their
packets (all or a random one-in-X) be sent to some other port. How are
the two features similar/different? From what I see they offer rather
similar functionality.
Cheers,
JB
