All,
I just wanted to say thanks to Brian and Brain for a wonderful breakdown of the 4 Mock Labs I just had the opportunity to complete a couple of weeks ago.
They were great and very helpful.
For those who want to know what they were like:
1. The labs were point-based with no partial credit and strictly limited to about 8 hours with about 1/2 hour for a lunch or so.
2. You can and will lose points on dependencies (as I suspect happens in the real lab).
3. Both Brians were highly professional and clear.
4. The labs were challenging and thought provoking and even things that might appear subtle can have teeth.
5. Review and Feedback received per lab exam was amazingly clear and the Class on Demand is a very good way to review what went right or wrong for one in the course of the lab. Very good way to learn or "re-learn" one's approach.
6. I would recommend that is you have the opportunity that there is great advantage to using this class to prepare and to assess one's readiness for the actual lab.
Disclaimer: I have not sat the lab yet - a few more days now...
7. Finally, I think the last day and Brian Dennis's discussion of lab strategy and approach was probably worth cost of the lab and is definately an advantage over just buying labs and doing them solo. I was able to take my labs from the week, review them, and figure out where my remaining weak points were, and then use some of the words of wisdom from Brian and the CORE Lab workbook to build on those words, his simple by elegant approach to building a network and at the same build in speed and accuracy that I found myself still lacking during that week of Mock Labs. I think this approach will have helped me quite a bit overcome those last 15-25 points I need to get over the hump (since they are directly attributed to attaining a certain approach, a certain speed, a certain number of points per hour, and a certain level of accuracy - all of which I found myself to be lacking but I think using this "Approach" will help me get over each of these items in the actual lab.
Again others may have a different opinion, this one is how I feel about how their course of instruction will/has helped me prepare for my final "Aproach" to my own goal of passing the CCIE Lab.
