Thanks Vikram. I could dig out the following from the RFC2328 ...

"As specified in Section 12.4.3, Type 4 summary-LSAs(ASBR-summary-LSAs) are never originated into
stub areas."

But IEWB Lab-4 Sec 4.5, has a table which shows LSA Type-4 are allowed in Stub-areas. To add to
this, Jeff Doyle's book also shows a similar table. I guess these needs to be corrected.

IMO, the LSA Type-4s are required only in a regular non-backbone area to show the reachability to
the ASBR. Otherwise, stub area routers are not required to know who the ASBR is. It can just reach
its ABR for all external destinations.

I would appreciate if somebody else in the group can add to this.
