Soul,

try with "mode desirable" instead of "mode on". Cisco recommends mode
desirable on both ends.

Subject: Configuring layer 2 EtherChannel

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here? I am trying to accomplish
lab1 in CCIE practical studies volume2.
Anytime I do the following configuration:

  Interface FastEthernet0/1
   switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
   switchport mode trunk
   channel-group 1 mode on
  !
  interface FastEthernet0/2
   switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
   switchport mode trunk
   channel-group 1 mode on

I get the following errors message:

  17:59:05: %STANDBY-3-DUPADDR: Duplicate address 172.16.200.16 on Vlan200,
sourced by 0000.0c07.acc8
  17:59:29: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: channel-misconfig error detected on Po1,
putting Fa0/1 in err-disable state
  17:59:30: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: channel-misconfig error detected on Po1,
putting Fa0/2 in err-disable state
  17:59:30: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet0/1,
changed state to down
  17:59:31: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet0/2,

state to down
17:59:32: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/1, changed state to down
17:59:32: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Port-channel1, changed state to down
17:59:32: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/2, changed state to down

I am using one CAT 3550 and 2950.
I shut one port either F0/1 or F0/2 I get no errors and everything work
fine.
  Any advice will be appreciated.

  Thanks,

  Soul
