I would not rule out static mroutes. Your proctor would be your guide.

At NMC, they made the very clear distinction between what does and what does not introduce a 0.0.0.0/0 into your routing table. A static mroute does not not.

In some cases, it may the option you are looking for. Know how to read the output of the sh ip mroute table. Get to understanding the RPF check process and what an OILIST accomplishes for you.
