Leigh - I would say that the release is the best way. However, you may
want to suggest portfast on the switchport. This may solve his issues,
since the port may be missing the DHCP offer packets.

Subject: DHCP problem

All,

A customer of mine has a problem with DHCP.

When he (one of his directors) connects to the network, he gets an
address just fine. When this chap moves into another room and another
vlan and connects his pc it doesn't work, he phones the IT guys, they
tell him to do a release and renew on his IP and all is then good.

Is there any way to force his pc to take a new ip address when he plugs
into a different vlan?
