Hi Thomas,
The 3500 and 2900 series switches will NOT support 802.1x, however they
WILL support the CLIENT piece of VMPS.
The 3550 and 2950, along with just about anything newer DOES support
802.1x. The 2950 SI does NOT support the 802.1x guest vlan, nor dynamic
vlans sent by RADIUS. 2950 EI and all 3550's DO.
Any type of switch module or wic cards that get inserted into routers
(including the 870 and 850 series) do support 802.1x, but no dynamic or
guest VLANs (just authentication) - they also do not support vmps or
port-security. If you want anything fancy, get a real switch.

Subject: 802.1x & 3524-XL
Hello,
Does anyone know if Catalyst 3524-XL switches support 802.1x ?
I can only find 12.0 images for 3524-XL's on CCO and that doesn't
support 802.1x
I tried Cisco Feature Navigator, but (as usual) didn't give me much joy!
Any feedback would be appreciated,
Thomas
