Dear all,
I am not very sure when and on which interface should I put ip directed broadcast command.
At first I thouth that it should be placed only on the interface on which the packet should search for its final destiation.
For example there is a task in the IE workbook in which there is a PC on vlan 5 for example and a DHCP server in vlan 10. A router is between them. The ip address of the DHCP is unknown so the router should forward the requests to the broadcast address of vlan 10.
I thought that a command
Ip helper-address 10.1.1.255 on vlan 5 interface and
Ip directed-broadcast on the vlan 10 interface will be enough, BUT in the solution of this task is said that I need
ip directed-broadcast command on both interfaces of the router.
How do you think which is right and what is the general rule here ?
Thanks
Nick.
