What if I user gre tunnels from R1 to R100 and a new tunnel from R100 to R2
and all other locations?

Would not that be posible?

So since this is a ppp interface (virtual template) this will not be posible

since your PPP link is a new (and different from LAN type of) media, the
whole L2 header/tail will have to be re-built and no VLAN tag will be
passed through.
