A bit off this topic... I had a problem pinging one of my backbone
routers on my last attempt, though I got all RIP and BGP updates from
it... so you should not dig yourself into the rat hole for nothing....
ask proctor if you doubt something.... there are no silly questions, but
there is a frustration later in "why I didn't ask?!"
