Hi All,
I have a question related to the task 1.3 in IEWB-RS Ver 3 Lab 5
Here is the scenario :
- SW1 & SW2 have two trunk ports fa0/13 & fa0/14.
- Etherchannel has been configured on these ports.
- VLAN 8 on SW1 is generating heavy traffic & based on the default
config of Etherchannel (src based) one port out of this channel is
utilized unevenly.
- Task is to evenly utilize both the ports in the Etherchannel.
*** Now their solution suggests that the command "port-channel
load-balance dst-mac" should be used on both the switches to achieve
this ***
My confusion is. this will work for SW1 where the traffic is originated
but what happens when that traffic comes back. If the channel is dst
based on SW2 all the returning traffic will traverse through the same
port & will not be distributed evenly. Will I have to leave the
Etherchannel as is to be "src mac based" on SW2?
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks in advance.
Hitesh
