Or you can also adjust AD of OSPF external routes

Subject: redistribution concepts(tweaking distanceto prevent loops)

Hi Group,

I've got this scenario and not sure if the concepts
are right or are there any other reasons to why we
might need to tweak the AD on border routers

==== Example =====

The need to lower the distance on r2 for eigrp
external routes when performing 2 way redistribution

r1 r2: runs eigrp (has an extroute 10.0.0.0)
r2  r3: runs ospf

r2 to perform 2 way route redistribution

[r1]-------------------[r2]------------------[r3]

Before redistribution:
r2: sh ip ro route 10.0.0.0/24

EX D 10.0.0.0/24

After redistribution:
r2: sh ip ro route 10.0.0.0/24

O E2 10.0.0.0/24

Conclusion: Loops for the 10.0.0.0/24 will occur after
the redistribution(on r2) if AD value is not adjusted
for eigrp external routes due to ospfs lower AD on
the same router

==== End of Example =====

any advice is appreciated

thanks:)
