Very true, this is my last post on this particular topic....but, right now
in my life I have groomed my self to be a technical person, meaning while
whatever position I may take may involve other aspects, the main focus will
be networking and technology (hands on config, design, installation). So if
you know that eventually you want to be in upper mngt, director, or CxO.
Then following that course may be a smart move. But for me I have never
wanted to be in mngt, above possibly being a team lead over a group of
engineers. I love the technical aspect of what I do, to be competitive you
must always stay sharp and aware of new technologies, its lifelong
learning in real-world applications. CCIE is a step in that process. Thats
what good certification programs focus on and provide for engineers who are
driven to succeed. I am not going to rag on degrees cause they have thier
place in the grand scheme of things. I think that if you are improving
yourself in any way its all good. But, never look down on the next person
cause they are taking a different route, your end goals may be different.
That is a character flaw, be happy with you and that you are bettering
yourself. Now lets get back to why we all joined group study.
