Hi Group,
I've got this 45Mbps MPLS pipe between a NY office an SF office. An issue
that is new to me is the effect of a 70ms latency on data transfers across
this distance. I saw that the BDP will yield a max of 3Mbps over this link.
That is the approximate speed that we're seeing on a transfer of a 1GB file.
I know I can use multiple transfer streams and tweak buffers and TCP window
sizes on the servers at these sites. I know there are products out there
from Packeteer and Juniper (and others) for "WAN acceleration" which
overcome the latency in LFNs.
HPN-SSH was also tested for the file transfer and while the improvement is
good, it's not going to solve the problem.
I came across the link below:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6350/products_configuration_guide_chap

I was wondering if anyone has used this feature and if so, did it make a
noticeable difference?
Basically I'm looking for a solution which doesn't involve modifications at
the server OS level. If it's going to require a pair of those WAN
acceleration devices, then I guess that would be my only other option.
Thanks for your input.
