Bill,

        Instead of issuing the "clear ip bgp" command issue the "clear
ip bgp * in" or "clear ip bgp * out" commands. This instructs the
router to request or send a triggered BGP update through route-refresh.
This allows you to apply any new changes to the BGP table without having
to destroy and rebuild the entire BGP session.
