I would not like to give that option a go. I have mine in a rack and I am of
the belief that a little air flow is better then none. They do get mighty
warm. Just wack em in a rack and shut the door, that will quieten them down
a bit. I have a rack full of gear going nearly all the time and I don't find
it noisy with the door of the rack closed. Plus its good training to have
that sound in your ear when you go to do your lab :) (I recall Scott
mentioning ear plugs once :) ) So simply - I would advise not to remove the
fans, they are there for a reason,
