Hey there chaps,
Depending on the kind of phone you're using, in the past I've configured
"switchport voice vlan" before for Mitel and Alcatel units. On the DHCP
server there is a 2 additions that you need to make (at least for the
alcatel ones as I remember). One of the DCHP options turns the vlan
option on, then the other option tells the phone what vlan to be in,
then it gets another address via dhcp in the voice vlan.
I had to do this because of the time it was taking pc's to get their
dhcp addresses, having to wait for spanning tree on the ports (pvst was
in the network) and the customer was using pxe boot to build new images
on pc's and this was taking too long to get an address and timing out.
Hope this helps a bit,
LH
