You could always try a different terminal server. Go to ebay and search for
xyplex 16* and you'll see the 1620 (20 port) and 1640 (40 port) terminal
servers significantly cheaper than Cisco ones.
Or, of course, you could use the old fashion way which is to have a slew of
console cables with labels, and simply switch them out on your laptop/PC as
you need to! :)

PS. If you can find older stuff, Cisco had a CS-516 which was an ugly
predecessor to the 2509/2511 servers.

initially it is because finances are tight.
If all I have is aux port and console port free on router/switch, and 2
comms ports on PC, with this set up what options do I have?
