Configure the switchport as a trunk and allow the
VLANs over trunk you need. On the non-cisco phone
there may be a way to configure the vlan for the
voice-side of the phone and a vlan for the data side.
What type of phone is it?
The voice VLAN command on switch populates the CDP
packet with the voice vlan number, and cisco IP phones
get the voice vlan number from the CDP packet the
switch sends out port - thats how they know what vlan
to put the voice into dynamically without having to
set the voice vlan on the phone itself.
