The garbled character thing is a long standing bug in the version of
HyperTerminal that ships with Windows XP. Just go to the Wingraeve site and
download and install the newest version.

Subject: Hyperterminal
Hi:
Question about HyperTerminal. Assuming the only terminal program you have
on a client's site is HyperTerminal, how do you fix the problem of scrolling
back and not getting garbled characters. I know using "terminal length 0"
allows you to capture the config when doing a capture text. But there is
times that you need to go back into the buffer and you only have
HyperTerminal. Any help would be appreciated.
