That is just what the router returned when I typed the command.
Rack1AS#terminal escape-character 033
"^[" is the escape character
Rack1AS#
Also 033 is the ASCII value for the "escape" key.

Brian,
what did you mean when you said:
"^[" is the escape character
i didnt understand that part? but the rest is funny. im gonna try it on some coworkers, i think ill map it to 'c' since prolly the most common command is conf t.

Here are a few options:
1) Depending on the terminal software you are using you could map a
single key to the escape sequence. Example: To map the full escape
sequence (ctrl-shift-6 X) in SecureCRT 5.0 to the F1 key go to the
"Tools" menu --> "Keymap Editor" --> "Map a Key". Then hit "F1".
Finally under the Action Function drop drown menu, select "Send String"
and then hit the escape sequence on your keyboard.
2) You can alter the escape sequence by using the "terminal
escape-character" exec mode command or under the particular line using
the "escape-character" line command. These options will change the
"ctrl-shift-6" portion of the escape sequence. The exec mode option
will only be active until you close the session.
This example will change the "ctrl-shift-6" key sequence to just needing
to hit the "escape" key before hitting x.
Rack1AS#terminal escape-character 033
"^[" is the escape character
Rack1AS#1
[Resuming connection 1 to r6 ... ]
Router# <-- Hit the ESC key and then x
Rack1AS#
3) If you have a multi-button mouse (i.e. 5 button mouse) you could map
one of the extra buttons to the "ctrl-shift-6" key sequence.
Finally if you want to have fun with a friend or coworker, map a common
key (i.e. the "a" key, "1" key, or "enter" key) to the escape sequence.
This can result in hours of enjoyment ;-)

Subject: Alias command for Ctrl+Shift+6,x
Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me how to make an alias command for the keyboard
sequence
"Ctrl+Shift+6,x".
Because I would like to move from one console to another console from
the
Terminal server soon. Or is there any other command which help me to
shift
from one console to another from the terminal server.
I saw in some workbook solutions, some alias command but couldn't get
the
abbreviation for the alias command.
Can somebody throw some light on this please?
Regards,
Subhash.
