The source and destination IP addresses or peering interfaces should to
be a mirror image of each other.

R1: R2:
Tunnel Source: 1.1.1.1 Tunnel Source: 2.2.2.2
Tunnel Destination: 2.2.2.2 Tunnel Destination: 1.1.1.1

R1: R2:
Tunnel Source: Local Lo0 Tunnel Source: Local Lo0
Tunnel Destination: R2's Lo0 Tunnel Destination: R1's Lo0

Subject: tunnel interface - does src/dst ip matter?

Hi, group

From what I understand, the source and destination IPs of a GRE tunnel
interfaces can be any IPs on the 2 routers as long as they are
reachable, but one of the labs I am working proved I was wrong, can
anyone give some insight?

TIA,
Pat
