I'm not even sure that I remember the solution. Just kidding of course
;-)

Note that the requirement states to not use the "ppp authentication"
command under R5's serial0/1 interface but you can use the command on
R5. Just not under the serial0/1 interface.

Here is the full task for the benefit of everyone:

* Configure the serial link between R4 and R5 using PPP encapsulation.
* R4 and R5 should authenticate each other over this link.
* R4 should offer the username ROUTER4 and the password of CISCO4 during
the authentication process.
* R4 should offer the username ROUTER5 and the password of CISCO5 during
the authentication process.
* Do not use the "ppp authentication" command under R5's Serial0/1
interface for this task.

Subject: IEWB v3 Vol 2 Lab 3 - Mutual PPP Auth

Hello,

The task asks for mutual authentication with differing usernames and
passwords without configuring "ppp authentication..." on one side.

I've selected PAP due to the differing passwords but I can only get one
side
to request the authentication.

Any ideas?

Wish I knew where the Brians dug this stuff up from. :)

Thanks,
Mike
