If I remember right this is accomplished by executing code on the
computer locally.....and can be prevented by higher browser security
settings. The remote web server never saw the private address as it
would never be able to route across the internet. I think it either
generates the HTML to display the IP locally, or perhaps sends it back
via POST method.
