Tony/Ajaz,

I believe you need to establish specific rotary dial lines for the
reverse ssh session. Then apply the timeout settings to the specific
rotary dial line.

Tony - yes I have and as you have correctly identified it cannot be set
to do not timeout.

Have you tried the ip ssh timeout command? I do not see if there is any
way to disable it and the max is 120 seconds.

 privilege level 15
 login local
 transport input ssh

Tony - I have that configured by default and it would appear to do
nothing for lines accessed via ssh. I can understand why ssh has a
maximum timeout limit which cannot be set to 'never timeout'

It's just a workaround I'm after.

Yes, exec-timeout is for sessions local to the router, that is why you
need to configure it on the router you are ssh'ing to.

Tony, wont we need the 'session-timeout' command for controlling
timeouts in reverse telnet sessions?? 'exec-timeout' is only for the
sessions local to the router

The timeout is controlled by the VTY settings on the device you are
connecting to.

Setting exec-timeout 0 0 on the vty ports should disable the timeout if
that

is you desired goal.

can anyone suggest a workaround to prevent reverse telnet ssh sessions
from timing out?
