Thanks for the clarification, Brian. Is there any to not advertise a route
into the area, or, have a default route as an external route (Type 5)?

Subject: RE: NO OSPF Inter-area External routes
The issue is that the default route shows up as an inter-area route and
the task stated to not allow inter-area routes into the stub area. See
below:
Rack1R2#sho ip route ospf
O*IA 0.0.0.0/0 [110/11] via 172.16.1.1, 00:02:50, Ethernet0/0
Rack1R2#
The author of the question may not have taken into account the fact that
the default route is also an inter-area route when saying to not allow
inter-area routes into the stub area. In this case you should ask for
"clarification" from the proctor as to if the default route generated by
the ABR is counted as an inter-area route.
When talking to a proctor about a question like this you should say
something along these lines:
Can you clarify if task X is saying to not allow a default route which
is an inter-area route to be advertised into area X or does the question
mean to just not allow routes from other OSPF areas into the stub area.

Other than the internal routers, which should show up....you should only
have
the "area x stub no-summary" at the ABR. And, "area x stub" at the
routers
within the stub area. This should meet your requirement.

Hi all,
suppose you are asked to configure an ospf area and do not allow
external and inter-aea routes.
this is the case of nssa no-summary or totally stub area.
my doubt is: when I configure nssa no-summary on ABR it automatically
generate a default route seen by all internal routers as Ospf Inter-area
route, so it seems violate the restrictions of the questions.
wath is the correct configuration?
TIA
Max
