I am in the process of running a number of tests and want to simulate mulicast
connectivity as close as possible to the real thing. I realize that the
receiver can be closely similated by using the ip igmp join command on an
interface that is participating in the pim process (generates membership
reports). However, what is the best way to simulate a source (generate
register messages)? Or, is this even possible through the IOS commands on the
router. Has anyone been able to do this? I think "seeing" the debug/show
commands while this is happening will really help understanding what goes on
in the various scenarios.
