I do not think that using the 0.0.0.0 mask to add an interface into an IGP
will influence how that interface IP gets advertised.

!
interface fa0/0
ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
!
network 1.1.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 0

Simply said, put ONLY interface 1.1.1.1 into area 0, if you check your other
OSPF routers, the route to 1.1.1.1 will show as 1.1.1.0/24.
